The National Institutes of Standards developed a web application named the Modular Interactive Data Acquisition System (MIDAS) that enable scientists to easily and seamlessly expose their datasets as searchable REST APIs to the public within minutes. During this presentation, you'll see a live demonstration of MIDAS and hear about some of the challenges involved with bringing APIs to the masses, handling very large datasets and normalizing data of all types to JSON.
